Zee Biography

I'm originally from Kalkaska, Michigan and graduated with my B.Sci. in Fisheries & Wildlife from Michigan State University in May '06 (with a specialization in GIS--digital computer mapping--the stuff I really love). I want to eventually have a career in GIS (getting paid to be a WoT/Xena geek or world traveler would be wonderful, but isn't very promising) and that means a grad degree, so I'm currently living in Auckland, New Zealand undertaking my PGDipSci in GIS at the University of Auckland! Before this I spent 14 months as a baker for Panera Bread in Iowa City, Iowa.

Obsessions Pastimes and Just Stuff I Do

I have a couple obsessions, the largest being Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time, for which I've long been involved in several online communities. My own I founded in 2000 and we're still chugging along (www.TheGreatHall.org) and I'm quite active at TarValon.net. I routinely attend Dragon*Con every year and have served as WoT track staff. Of late I've rediscovered Xena: Warrior Princess and have fallen head over heels in love with it. It's been ages since something has hooked me so thoroughly (in fact, I think the last thing was WoT, so it's been a decade :p). One can now count me among the Hardcore Nutball™ Xenites too.

I tend to think of myself as having lazy tendencies, yet somehow I manage to keep extrememly busy...almost all of the time. *lol* I'm very much the computer/tech/gaming nut and in the past have spent a heck of a lot of my time on the computer (what my mother amusingly calls "living in the cave"). But, I also love films, music, photography, dancing, rollerblading, exploring new places, and recently I've gotten back into enjoying the great outdoors. This summer I strapped on the hiking boots and tramped all over eastern Iowa, usually trekking several miles at least 2-3 days a week. I also find one of my greatest strengths to be writing, but I don't do much anymore other than blogging. I'm working to change that. Oh, and I positively adore traveling. Love, love, love it! Being penned in one place makes me restless and cranky and I'll often jump in my car and head somewhere new, just to go.

    Oh for sure!!! That'd be awesome! Lemme be the first to stay come stay! image I'ts really easy to jump back and forth from Auckland to Sydney, or so I've heard. Flights are much cheaper than from say here to US.

    So ya gonna do plenty of holidaying in NZ? Gonna do the daredevil thang?
